Have you ever been in that situation where you’re rushing from one party to the next and realise that you’re about to show up to an event empty handed? This my love is no good. I recently found myself sprinting across New York to make it to a friend’s housewarming party. I was about to press the ‘4B’ buzzer when I realised that a) Not only was I late but b) I was empty handed, no gift, no bottle of wine, no plant - pas bien.

Three and a half blocks later, I was in a shop racing towards the refrigerated section. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by choice at wine shops but I’ve found that there are 3 wines that always present as good gifts and go down quite well.

This Pinot Grigio is crisp and sophisticated without being overdone. If your party is a gang that enjoys notes of citrus (grapefruit is my personal favourite) they’ll be delighted with the hints of orange and lemon that playfully liven up your palette. This my friends is a classic.

Rosé all day. While a bargain, at a cool $8, this rosé is perfect for outdoor events, picnics or views from a balcony. The slight spice in this South African wine balances out the character of the fruit and makes it a perfect pairing for your Spring and Summertime schedules.

Who doesn’t like a bit of bubbly from time to time? This Cava has very sexy legs. Earthy flavours all wrapped in the brightness of green apple, bright lemon and fantastic white peach flavours - that’s a package I’d love to get wrapped up in.

Bottom line, you simply can’t go to a party or event empty handed. Personally, whenever I go to a wine shop, I always pick up an extra bottle. One never knows what event will pop-up next.

Chin, chin darlings.
